Prior to the Apostille of Certificate of Origin from Ministry of external Affairs (MEA), New Delhi the Certificate of Origin must be attested from the Chambers of Commerce in India. It is not mandatory to attest the Certificate of Origin from the respective State’s Chambers of Commerce. The Certificate of Origin could be attested from any Chambers of Commerce across the India prior to Apostille. The Certificate of Origin generally attested from the concerned Chambers of Commerce from where the concerned Company is the Member and registered with. It is also important that the Certificate of Origin must be attested from Notary before Apostille from Ministry of External Affairs, (MEA). 

Please be informed that some HCC Countries further require the Embassy Legalization of the Certificate of Origin after the Apostille of the Certificate of Origin from Ministry of external Affairs (MEA), New Delhi. In this case, firstly the Certificate of Origin will be attested from the Chambers of Commerce, after that the Certificate of Origin will be Apostilled from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi and finally the Certificate of Origin will be legalized by the concerned country’s Embassy or Consulate present in India. 

The time frame to complete the Certificate of Origin Apostille from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi could be completed within three working days. But the legalization of the Certificate of Origin from the Embassy or Consulate could take some more time and it depends on the concerned Embassy’s or Consulate’s internal policy.
